Palisades Tennis Club (Palisades), the tennis club formed originally by John Wayne and partners in 1974, has renewed its long-time lease with the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach under new owner Eric Davidson, chairman of the board for World Team Tennis and owner of the Orange County Breakers tennis team.
Ken Stuart, who has owned the club since 1995, has decided to leave Palisades following 31 combined years of dedicated service.
According to Davidson, “I am invigorated by the lease renewal with the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, and our plans are to ensure that Palisades continues to be a world-class club for its local members and global visitors.”
Formerly, Palisades Tennis Club occupied a second adjacent location, including a clubhouse building that Palisades will vacate by month end.
However, the Club will continue to operate from its long-time home at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach under the renewed lease. While there is seemingly some controversy regarding the clubhouse departure, Palisades will operate out of a modular building and begin looking to a more permanent future option moving forward.
Under Davidson’s ownership, current management will remain in place, with Terri DeLong as General Manager.
